Library Development Mission to Mondulkiri

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote reading and community learning, the One Book One Community (OBOC) team conducted a field mission on 5-7 August 2022 to Pou Tang Village, Sen Monorom City, Mondulkiri Province.

During this outreach activity, the team visited rural areas to teach children about the joy of reading and to introduce the OBOC project to local families and educators. The mission emphasized that reading should be enjoyable and meaningful, not merely an academic duty.

The activity engaged around 100 children, who joined storytelling and interactive reading sessions led by OBOC volunteers. The team distributed 50 learning packs—each containing textbooks, storybooks, toys, and snacks—to encourage learning, imagination, and play.

In addition to community outreach, the OBOC team also supported the local library in Pou Tang Village, providing books, educational posters, and technical guidance to strengthen its operation. The photo above captures part of this effort, as team members worked together with local partners to enhance the reading space and promote access to knowledge.

This mission not only provided educational materials but also built stronger connections between OBOC and rural communities, reaffirming the campaign’s commitment to expanding access to books, empowering youth, and promoting literacy throughout Cambodia.
